What is Success?
Success in the broadest of terms is, achieving the goal you set out for yourself. Many things determine a persons capacity to achieve success, be it on personal or professional front. Among the most important are: hard work, determination, self-confidence, good planning and an excellent support system.
First, there is no success anywhere in this world without a good measure of hard work. It does not matter in what field you are seeking success, hard work is one ingredient, which will always remain constant in the recipe. People who love success and aim for it are not afraid of hard work, rather they are afraid of too much leisure time.
All successful people show exceptional determination when it comes to achieving their set goals. Many times determination is described as a one-track mind because these people behave in such a way that it does not seem they consider anything else other than reaching their goal.
To enjoy success, one must have self-confidence; the belief in oneself is one of the most important factors in any success story. There have been instances when great people in history worked almost alone because at that time no one believed in them; however, their determination and self-confidence brought them success and in its wake the much-deserved recognition. It is very important to believe in one self, when others do not.
Once you have set a goal, a good amount of planning is required to achieve it. Without planning there is no way you can achieve any success because you will not be focused enough to concentrate on accomplishing your goal(s). The planning should be done both long-term and short-term; the long-term showing the larger picture, while the short-term would provide the day-to-day guide to success.
You must have a strong support system in order to achieve your goals. This vital system includes your family, your colleagues, and all those who support you in this endeavor. There is no way that you can achieve any type of success without any outside support. When this external support totally matches your needs, then your road to success becomes easier.
In the end, you will find that success is the amalgamation of a number of factors, which represent the attitude and the hunger to achieve ones goal with single minded determination. Anyone can be successful in any field provided they are totally committed to it.

In small businesses, the struggles usually revolve around problems regarding finance, initial marketing strategy and determination to keep at it until the first time it breaks even. Once you cross the break-even point, there is no looking back. However, the road to that point is rough and it takes a lot of courage and determination to negotiate it.
Success is actually not a goal; it is a way of living. Some people can make money out of sand. These people are those who always look for a solution to a problem - and usually find it. It is amazing how they do it, but they always do. They are like cats that no mater how you throw them, they always land on their feet!
